Thanks for clearly distinguishing troll and criticism. I agree that when the responder attacks the messenger not the message, it is the end of discussion. It doesn’t lead to exposing each other’s ideas for the benefit of both parties. Let alone inviting constructive debates.

Thanks for pointing out that trolls don’t only ruin the author but also the readers. Trolls make other readers focus on the author not the ideas. Responding to trolls brings everyone out of the productive discussion. A troll can attack a reader, too.
