Papanek said it in 1984, yet our design schools are not there yet. What happened? Your work could enlighten them.

However, there are some design schools that have transformed according to this age, even in the past decade. Did you check Eindhoven University of Technology? Their Industrial Design curriculum in 2009–2013 (when I was there) looked similar to your diagram:

And the dept. Industrial Design is the only one in the university that fully implemented project-based learning (bachelor program, 3 years). Teachers used to sell projects every semester, and students “bought” the ones having listed skills they wanted to grow that semester. This is self-directed competency-centered learning, beyond just student centered.
