Great shout out about this topic! I can confirm the user behavior with a little survey at two shoppingmalls of different socioeconomic levels in Jakarta conducted by my team years ago, where we found that users preferred specific, brand-representative apps than supper apps.
Have you looked into why businesses in Asia seem to be predatory and selfish? As far as I know, the banking system doesn’t incentivize number of payments but number of accounts that make at least one payment. To have more unique users who commit a transaction means having so many services like a big fishing net in the ocean. Hence, the super app!
